All Things New York - Concierge Corner: To D.C or not to D.C. That is the question

It’s a life-changing week for all of us Americans. A breath of fresh air will wash over our land - and entice us to party our asses off in the upcoming days.  With my entire network up in arms about where to ring in the new Presidential term, I find myself equally torn. So to help narrow down the huge decision, I have created you a whats-where & why you need to be-there list of D.C and N.Y.C. events. I know - I Ba-rock. There won’t be the usual breakdown, but I will break it down as usual.

I would love it if you know of a spot I haven’t mentioned. In fact, I beg of you to put it in the comments for all to see. Why be stricken with a wondrous case of wanderlust, when you can find yourself safely tucked away in the city’s (either one!) flyest party?! Well, inaugurate this kids…

All Things New York - Concierge Corner: Live it up!

Welcome back for the last edition under Bush’s reign. Join us next week for an Inauguration Special - I will be acting as your very own D.C. CONCIERGE. We will be highlighting what is going on in the Nation’s Capital as well as the Nation’s Hippest City (NYC if you were wondering). That is right…a double-header. Email me for requests if you are still left wondering what will be going on and where it’s happening. It’s a guide for New-Yorkers who are partying on the National level that week(end).

Keep sticking to those New Year Resolutions folks. And if you need any help - keep checking out our weekly tidbits. We will make you a better person for it. Smooches.

All Things New York - Concierge Corner: New Years Eve!

If you are like me, your plans for New Year’s Eve are still undone. About as undone as you will be by the end of the night on the 31st. So, let us venture into some of the lesser-known options around NYC and the boroughs. These will not break the bank, as most of them are under $50. And let’s be realistic…$50 is less than what it will cost for you to go to some hole-in-the-wall bar near your pad including takeout from your local pizzeria. So cough up the dollars folks. And, being that you will be hungry the next day, I have included some options for brunch on New Years Day.

Keep to those resolutions, especially the one about coming here weekly.

All Things New York - Concierge Corner: Marissa at Your Service

Do you ever sit there and wonder, “What in the city have I not accomplished yet” ? Between all of the different museums, gallery exhibitions from artists you have never heard of, drinking wine out of bottles at new hip restaurants, and other randoms - everyone has a new gig to get into. That’s why we are here. In the Concierge Corner, you get to put on your gloves and battle out some of your timidness of being a first-timer at a bunch of stuff. You also combat laziness, lameness and lewdness by staying in-the-know with my recommendations. So, get up, get out and get at it kiddies - the big vast rotunda of an apple, we refer to as NYC is just waiting for you to take a bite.

Also, check out my GREEN SHOPPING GUIDE post (coming later on).  It will help you figure out what to get for the people on your list while you stay eco-chic.

All Things New York - Concierge Corner: Marissa, at your service

Ahh, the frost on the railing to your brownstone signals colder days are ahead. As we approach the New Year, you may want to start coming out of your shell a little, and start having fun. What kind of fun, you ask? Well there are all different types. Here, in the Concierge Corner, you will find the newest bar that has opened and scandalously taunting wine-affairs, with everything in between.

As we celebrate the last of 2008, and prepare for our welcomed change-of-pace (aka Obama), feel free to comment and let me know of the activities and feats you want to accomplish and I will be sure to provide you with those tools.

Your lifestyle guru,

Marissa
