The weekend of October 4th and 5th was Open House New York, an annual event where dozens of historic buildings, museums, artists homes/studios and other locations, many of which not generally public spaces, are open to the public for those 2 days.

Long since being able to travel under its open power, the ship was towed from Staten Island back up the Hudson.
You may remember how back in November 2006, the initial move of the Intrepid out of Pier 86 was delayed for several weeks since it was stuck in 25 years worth of mud and muck, and took Navy divers several weeks to free the ship. It is reported that the renovation includes the opening of areas of the ship never before open to the public, such as the crew living quarters.
