You made it! As we embark into this unknown, non-Bush territory, we realize there is a ton of stuff 2009 offers us. And of course, NYC doesn’t let us down either. Check out the haps this week and please give me some feedback on what you want for ‘09 so I can deliver the goods to you each week, fresh and ready to be gotten.

If you are like me, your plans for New Year’s Eve are still undone. About as undone as you will be by the end of the night on the 31st. So, let us venture into some of the lesser-known options around NYC and the boroughs. These will not break the bank, as most of them are under $50. And let’s be realistic…$50 is less than what it will cost for you to go to some hole-in-the-wall bar near your pad including takeout from your local pizzeria. So cough up the dollars folks. And, being that you will be hungry the next day, I have included some options for brunch on New Years Day.
Keep to those resolutions, especially the one about coming here weekly.

Whether you are getting your Star of David on this holiday, or your Santa outfit (or both, like me) - there is much to celebrate in the NYC scene. Even though the economy is tight, your pockets near empty, and bonuses are put on hold this year - find at least one person in need and be charitable. It can be anything from a cup of hot cocoa to a dollar. Maybe even a pair or shoes or jacket you no longer need. It will just make your holiday that much more special. Onto the fun stuff, we will be reviewing the best places in the city to chill this next week or so. Keep an eye out for next week’s NEW YEAR EDITION. And put on some Nat King Cole, dammit.

Whether you’re in it or not, there is a green movement taking place. Chances are, someone in your circle is into sustainability, just like you’re into Gossip Girl. Welcome to the first ever Green-Gift Guide here on NeighborbeeBlog! I’ve compiled a list of my favorite green-friendly gifts, most of which don’t even require you leaving the house to purchase. I know, you’re so excited to shop in your pajamas. Well, as long as they are organic, and you just downed some soy milk and Kashi, we are set. Happy Shopping, and be sure to make an effort to be as green as possible this Holiday season, and in the new year!

Do you ever sit there and wonder, “What in the city have I not accomplished yet” ? Between all of the different museums, gallery exhibitions from artists you have never heard of, drinking wine out of bottles at new hip restaurants, and other randoms - everyone has a new gig to get into. That’s why we are here. In the Concierge Corner, you get to put on your gloves and battle out some of your timidness of being a first-timer at a bunch of stuff. You also combat laziness, lameness and lewdness by staying in-the-know with my recommendations. So, get up, get out and get at it kiddies - the big vast rotunda of an apple, we refer to as NYC is just waiting for you to take a bite.
Also, check out my GREEN SHOPPING GUIDE post (coming later on). It will help you figure out what to get for the people on your list while you stay eco-chic.

Ahh, the frost on the railing to your brownstone signals colder days are ahead. As we approach the New Year, you may want to start coming out of your shell a little, and start having fun. What kind of fun, you ask? Well there are all different types. Here, in the Concierge Corner, you will find the newest bar that has opened and scandalously taunting wine-affairs, with everything in between.
As we celebrate the last of 2008, and prepare for our welcomed change-of-pace (aka Obama), feel free to comment and let me know of the activities and feats you want to accomplish and I will be sure to provide you with those tools.
Your lifestyle guru,
Marissa

Good day! I hope you have all recovered from your tryptophan trip. As you know here at Neighborbee, we are concerned about your social-condition and would never leave you for a weekend without a to-do list. So get out there in the cold and get cool with some of the happenings going on below. We have everything from a pop-up boutique on the Lower East Side to a vegetarian restaurant with eats so good, Turkey will be a thing of the past. Well, maybe not that drastic, but you get my point.
Next week is full of holiday-goodness with cooking classes, wine shin-digs and theatre-happenings. Bee sure to tune in to your favorite Concierge corner. It’s where Cool St. and Hot Ave. meet.

With everyone squeezing in last-minute-before-the-holidays-start vacations to nearby destinations, the city seems a bit less crowded. But in no way does that mean there are less things to do. With the goose-day (or turkey day) two weeks away, take a gander at the happenings below. And lookout for a special Concierge Corner on December 5th - to include a special, Shoppers Guide for the holidays. My gift to you! Next week’s guide will offer up some Thanksgiving Week fun and perhaps some Black Friday shopping tips if you behave.
And as always, if you have any questions or requests for next week’s section, do let your Neighborbee concierge know.
