Are you warming up to Fall? Here are some of the things we’ve been looking forward to.

Boog City Festival: Sept. 18 through Sun. Sept. 21 Poetry and Music at various locations throughout the city. Check out the performances. I’m looking forward to the Small, small press fair and hitting up the Race and Poetry: Integrating the Experimental discussion taking place on Sunday at Unnameable Books.

Jonny Farrow: Soundwalks — Saturdays — September 20, 27 and Sunday October 5. “We will be listening to urban zones of transition between residential and commercial soundscapes.” The 9/20 and 27 soundwalks will begin at 2 pm. We will meet at the Prison Ship Marty’s Memorial in Fort Greene Park and go onto Fulton Mall ending at Junior’s for refreshments. The 10/5 walk will be centered on the Gowanus and will begin at the OA Can factory at 5:30pm (sharp!) to be followed by an open forum on the urban soundscape. Visit Canary Project for more details.

Kim Deitch: A Retrospective at MoCCA Opening Sept. 21. Deitch will also be at the Strand Bookstore on Thursday, September 18, at 7 p.m. to discuss Deitch’s Pictorama and give a dramatic reading of “The Sunshine Girl,” with the help of artist Pamela Butler. Read more about Deitch at the Voice.

Broadway Fleamarket: 21 Sep from 10am – 7pm in Shubert Alley (225 West 45th Street). Up close and personal live performances in the alley, obscure goodies (Lea Salonga albums on casette! That touring company playbill that my favorite Marius performed in before he got Les Miz!) Performers manning booths. If you’re lucky, costumes are sometimes up for grabs as well. (Years back, my friend scored Yassmin Alers Out Tonight dress.) If you have some dough to splurge, there’s the auction as well. And hey, it benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. I hear there’s also going to be a photo scavenger hunt going on this year.

NY Craft Beer Week: September 12 - 21 Perhaps you’re getting some Sixpoint Sweet Action right now. Or perhaps I’ll see you at Black Rabbit bar imbibing some Liquid Gold.

Buckminster Fuller Symposium: show closes Sept. 21st. Isn’t this enough reason to go?

Madison Square Park: Free concerts Saturday afternoons, September 20th, October 4th. Hey they’re free and you can grab a Shake Shack burger. Mmmm… they won’t be closed in the winter (they’ll have heaters) and they take phone orders!
