New York City Happenings - Bee Scene: Subscribe and be satisfied

When you’re an event planner who is one week away from your largest fundraiser of the year, and are attending three weddings in three different states over the next three weeks, you sometimes have to hurry through your weekly ‘bee post.

Hopefully you’ll forgive me.

I’m blog-phoning it in with a list of my favorite e-subscriptions. If you want to learn about hundreds of events that can be delivered to your inbox on a weekly basis, start right here on neighborbeeblog.

TheatreMania.com: Sign up for the TM Insider’s Club to receive information about current shows as well as discount ticket offers for Broadway shows and national touring productions.

Goldstar.com: This site amazes me. Somehow Goldstar is able to offer deep discounts to everything from Broadway to Off-Off-Broadway shows, cabaret to opera, shopping to harbor cruises. This week’s list included two very interesting events that would never have usually entered my radar: Gourmet Learn To Make Your Own Sushi ($95) and the SonicVision Music Show at Hayden Auditorium for only $7.50! Definitely bookmark this site if you’re looking for unique and quality activities.

ManhattanUsersGuide.com: A daily e-mail that provides information about goings on in and around the city. This site gives me great ideas for day trips. MUG covers such areas as Arts & Entertainment, Leisure & Sports, Food & Wine, and also links my blogger friends, which makes me like them even more.

Flavorpill.com: This site bills themselves as “a snapshot of our favorite things to do in New York this week.” I’ve found Flavorpill to be a great host of information for performing arts, especially for live music, art showings and independent films.

Going.com: Check off your favorite interests (“museums,” “Scrabble,” “open bars”) on this website and you’ll soon receive invitations to events Going thinks you’ll like. Many of my friends who run social groups use Going as place to display information about their events as well as accept RSVPs. You can make new friends by finding users who share interest in the same activities.

NYCvisit.com: Run by NYC & Company, the official marketing and tourism organization for New York City, NYCVisit.com offers a monthly digest of upcoming events and activities taking place throughout the five boroughs. Check out their Deals & Promotions link, where you can search for discounts on hotels, restaurants, clubs and more. This is also the site to visit when Restaurant Week rolls around in late July, so be sure to sign up for this monthly e-newsletter now.

Send me your favorite e-newsletters at amanda [at] neighborbeeblog [dot] com. I’ll be in search of more free events after paying for all these wedding gifts!

  1. An interesting post. The Goldstar site caught my attention as it seems that you can get a good range of different discounts at a lot of stores. I’ve just bookmarked the site too, as there seems to be some interesting things that they are offering and it seems like I haven’t seen those types of things anywhere else before.

Going sounds an interesting social site for me and the wife too, so I’ll be sure to check that out, with her of course.

  2. I use flavorpill a lot when I’m visiting the city. They’re very solid and up to date.
