Art Colony: Art Roundup Pt. 2

(img via XKCD )

Ugh, what a night. You should have seen it. So I had just gotten back from an international jewel heist (it went well by the way), and I’m walking into my penthouse and I look up and what do I see? It’s a surprise party! “But it’s not my birthday,” I protested. Turns out one of my butlers had the wrong date. Oh well. I’ll never pass up a party.

Bottom line, that’s why I missed my post this week. But I’ll be back next week with something awesome.

In the meantime, here’s a round up of what’s new(ish) and happening(ism?) in New York Art.

“Take Your Time: Olafur Eliasson”
MoMA (through June 30)

Everyone is super excited about this, and frankly I am too. Eliasson’s play with light, perspective and color is both aesthetically pleasing and interesting to experience. This is the sort of thing that you have to see in person I guess, but I’m yet to go and enjoy it. I promise one of these days I’m going to carve some time out of my busy schedule of drinking fine wines and finally go to the MoMA. Not too much time though. Those fine wines aren’t going to enjoy themselves.

Robert Therrien
The Gagosian Gallery (through June 14)

Huge mother effing furniture. Yeah! Seriously, look at those things. They’re huge. I want to go stand underneath them and go “Look at how huge that thing is” and then I’m going to try and sit on them and be like “I’m a tiny baby, but I’m actually a full grown adult” and then everyone will compare me to Lily Tomlin and then they’ll look back at the giant furniture and go “holy hell that’s some giant furniture!”

It’s going to be pretty awesome (actually, it’s going to be literally awesome).
