Bee Scene: Eat Like a King in the County of Kings |
Imagine a place where you can eat and drink all you want, it’s not a holiday and no one will look at you funny for stuffing your face. I call it… heaven.
Actually, it’s called Brooklyn Eats . Sponsored by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, this food, wine and beer tasting event will take place next Wednesday, April 30th at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
While on the event was on hiatus last year, the last Brooklyn Eats in 2006 contained an amazing 44 food participants. With Brooklyn boasting more than 1,000 restaurants in its fine borough, one can only imagine that there will be an even bigger selection this year.
The culinary event is billed as the borough’s premier tasting event that celebrates the ethnic and cultural diversity of the Brooklyn neighborhoods, and this year restaurants will present in conjunction with Brooklyn cultural institutions. Just a few to mention: Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Brooklyn Children’s Museum, St. Ann’s Warehouse and the Williamsburg Art & Resource Center.
As an added bonus, the Brooklyn Eats site contains a comprehensive online restaurant guide . A quick search using keywords “Park Slope” and “Any Cuisine” pulled up an impressive 112 restaurants. And if you’re craving Sengalese, the online guide suggests Keur N’ Deye in Fort Greene. Oh, the power of the Internet.
Tickets are $95 and you can purchase them at www.brooklyneatsonline.com.
Restaurants slated to participate include:
Abigail Kirsch at Stage 6 Steiner Studios Catering, Abu’s Homestyle Bakery, Archives Restaurant, Aunt Suzie’s Restaurant, Baci & Abbracci, Barrio, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Bocca Lupo, Brawta Caribbean Café, Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, Caffé e Vino, Café on Clinton, Cake Man Raven, Clemente’s Maryland Crab House, Downtown Atlantic Restaurant, Dressler, Korhogo 126, Los Pollitos II, Luz Ristorante, Madiba Restaurant, Magnolia Restaurant & Bar, Mazzat, Mulino Ristorante Italiano, Noo Na, North of New Orleans, Palo Santo, Provence en Boite, Scottadito Osteria Toscana, Sette Enoteca e Cucina, Shakoor’s Sweet Tooth, Soul Spot, Soule Restaurant, Tavern on Dean, Trattoira Mangia and William’s Candy Shop.
And the best part: my job is paying for me to go because I work with restaurants. I’ll be wearing elastic pants that day. And a bib.
